Ohio Public Health Information Warehouse

Frequently Asked Questions

The Ohio Public Health Information Warehouse application makes public health data accessible to support on-going activities such as surveillance, investigations, assessments, grant writing, and evaluations. The application improves the efficiency and quality of ODH’s dissemination practices, facilitates the availability of data and creates timely decision support and analytic tools.

To begin, click on the picture or text of the dataset of interest from the warehouse landing page. To search for a specific dataset rather than scrolling through the entire list, click on the Search Datasets button at the top of the warehouse landing page. You can select a specific category to narrow the topic area and/or search for a specific keyword.

After selecting a dataset, the application will take you to a dataset-specific landing page. Within this landing page, you will find information about the dataset along with several tabs.

Details: Contains information about what is available, how the data are collected, any caveats that users should note, and links to additional information.
Data View: Allows the user to filter and export a line listing of selected variables. Some datasets have an OData feed available for easy and ongoing importation into other analysis tools.
Charts: Several pre-defined charts are available for most datasets. Each chart is customizable to allow the user to obtain the most relevant information. For example, a user might want to run a report for a specific geographic location or time period. Chart builders are available for more advanced users that want to build their own chart.
